What We Believe
Cornerstone Christian Academy is an interdenominational, Bible-based Christian school.
What We Believe
Cornerstone Christian Academy holds that the Bible, consisting of sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, and is entirely infallible and authoritative on all matters on which it speaks (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21). This is our sure foundation, and upon it:
We believe in one God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19).
We believe that all human life, from conception to natural death, is created by the Triune God in His image, and that we are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. We believe also that the Scriptures require us to treat every person with compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity as is worthy of God’s image-bearers and instruct us to reject unloving behavior directed toward any individual (Psalm 139:13-16; John 13:34; 1 John 4:7-12).
We believe that God has wonderfully and unchangeably created each person as either male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes/genders together reflect the image and nature of God Himself (Genesis 1:26-27).
We believe that the family is one of the basic building blocks for God’s people and for society as a whole. We believe also that when God created humanity, He ordained the marriage covenant to be a unique bond between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:18-25; 1 Corinthians 6:18; Hebrews 13:4).
We believe that the Lord graciously offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-13; John 3:16-19; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8-9).
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel to others and calls us to a life of self-denying love and service (Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Peter 4:10).
We affirm and hold to the words of the Apostles' Creed, a summary of the essentials of our faith, held by Christians throughout the centuries:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
