We prioritize the family and the church. Typically, students spend more waking hours at school than at home during the school year. However, we believe that the family should be more formative in the life of a student than the school, and we want to protect the time a child has with his or her family. We also believe that three-day weekends help both teachers and students properly recognize the Lord’s Day and embrace the rhythms of their church communities because of the extended weekend.
We believe that rest is vital to a healthy learning environment. By the end of a five-day school week, students and teachers alike are far too often exhausted. Yet, we envision a learning environment characterized by full-flourishing wholeness, and exhaustion works against this endeavor. From the instant of Creation, God intended rest to be fundamental to our existence. It’s immensely necessary for us in an increasingly busy world.
We seek to ignite thoughtful planning and professional development for our teachers. With the constant demands of lesson planning and staying on top of fruitful communication with parents, many teachers struggle to stay more than a day ahead in their planning. As a result, there’s so little time for the immense amount of time for teachers to prepare and improve. Also, when teachers or schools pursue opportunities for professional development, this either takes away from teachers’ family lives or it disrupts the regular school week. However, we look to improve the learning experience, because Cornerstone teachers will have extra time for planning, reflection, innovation, and on-going learning opportunities.
We understand that some families may require child care for their CCA students on Mondays. We provide a Monday Enrichment option for a separate fee, as well as before and after school care on Tuesdays through Fridays.
