Dress Code
Why a dress code?
Educating the whole child means, in part, having a deep concern for students’ bodies as much as their minds. In the same way that we want students to prepare their minds and wills for school, it’s also important to consider how they prepare their bodies. We believe the dress code is part of that preparation. We also believe that learning is fundamentally a communal endeavor. Dress codes connect students to the learning community and help them to physically see themselves as parts of a larger group. We also recognize that what students wear can sometimes create pressures or cause distractions, and we want to ensure healthy relationships among students and also between students and their teachers by nurturing a healthier learning environment which doesn’t have these distractions.
